Police in Bloomington, Ind., shot a 21-year-old man as he ran naked and armed with a gun near his university, the Herald Times reports.
Officers confronted Corey J. Hamersley after reports that a cursing, screaming man was firing a gun into the back of a house in the Indiana University neighborhood.
Jason Heap, also a student at the school, told the paper he heard Hamersley yelling from his balcony. A friend yelled at him to be quiet, and he responded with obscenities, Heap said.
Hamersley then took "off and running" waving a silver handgun in the air, Heap said. "No clothes, whatsoever," he said. "Just a gun."
Wearing only a hat, Hamersley screamed, "man down," "soldier down" and "give me back my 9" when confronted by police, Heap said.
Hamersley was shot in both legs after he refused to drop his weapon and continued to point and wave the gun at police, the paper reports.
He was later taken to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
No police officers or bystanders were shot, according to the Herald Times.
