Just two weeks after blasting into the local TV record books as the most watched talent show on debut, Channel 9 insiders have confirmed another series could begin pre-production almost as soon as the live finale of series one airs in late June.
Celebrity coaches Seal, Keith Urban, Delta Goodrem and Joel Madden - who finalised their team selections before next week's "battle rounds" - have options to return for a second season written into their contracts - an option Nine is now understood to be desperate to pursue.
A source close to the production said informal discussions had begun with the star personalities who have all indicated they want to be a part of the show's future.
A Nine spokeswoman declined to offer official comment but it is understood a new season would not air until next year.
Nine's faith in the Dutch format and its stunning execution by Shine Australia has been rewarded by monster audience figures, which have crossed from small screen to social media.
Its record launch last week have been built upon with spectacular ratings again on Sunday (2.69 million people) and again this Monday night, winning the night's top spot with a national average of 2.51m viewers.
With its financial difficulties well-documented, the investment in The Voice by network boss David Gyngell was seen by many as too much of a risk - but has since proven itself as a gamble worth taking and now, doubling up.
If the US series is any measure, season 2 could air as early as February next year - with the eager American TV programmers sending producers out to talent scout for season 3 a month after season 2 launched.
Executive producer of the Aussie series, Julie Ward - who has been at the helm of Australian Idol, So You Think You Can Dance and MasterChef - said the dynamic between the four judges when they first met in Los Angeles in January convinced her the show would be a hit.
"We've been blessed that the chemistry is there - they're playful, genuine and heartfelt," Ward told The Hollywood Reporter.
Seal said the success of the show reflected a broader appetite for positivity.
"I absolutely believe there is a shift, not just in music but socially, for people who are sick and tired of taking pleasure at other people sensationalising flaws in people. What this is actually doing is celebrating talent - it's bringing us back to the golden age of the music industry."
With the final teams of 12 now decided, the competition heats up, from Monday night when each coach must pit two of his discoveries against each other in a death-match duet.
After each performance the team leader then has the tough task of choosing between the two singers and eliminating the one who missed the mark.
If the coach can't decide they can then press their button, and again turn their chair to seek advice from a mentor seated behind them.
The mentors - Megan Washington for Team Keith, Darren Hayes for Team Delta, Ricki-lee Coulter for Team Seal and Benji Madden for his twin brother Joel - also help prepare the contestants ahead of each sing-off.
